KPV is a tripeptide consisting of lysine, proline and valine, the C-terminal fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, residues 11 to 13. It retains much of the parent hormone’s anti-inflammatory profile in research models while lacking its pigmentary activity, which has made it a useful tool for separating the two effects.
Research Applications
Research applications include NF-kB pathway inhibition assays, melanocortin-receptor-independent inflammatory signalling studies, intestinal epithelial cell and colitis models, cytokine expression profiling, and peptide transporter (PepT1) uptake research.
